Heatherdene & Win Hill

Thirty-five of us came together for Win Hill above Ladybower, stunning views, steep climbs, and the kind of togetherness that's exactly what recovery is about.

On Saturday 10th May, the HIKE2HEAL RECOVERY community came together for another unforgettable day in the Peak District, taking on the beautiful Heatherdene and Win Hill hike. With an incredible turnout of 35 participants, the day was filled with connection, laughter, support, and shared achievement.

From the moment we arrived at Heatherdene, there was a real sense of excitement in the air. Some people were joining us for their very first hike, while others have become regular members of our growing recovery community. No matter where people were on their journey, everyone was welcomed with open arms.

The route up Win Hill

The route up Win Hill gave us everything we could ask for: stunning views across Ladybower Reservoir, fresh air, challenging climbs, and plenty of moments to stop, breathe, and appreciate how far we've all come. For many, these hikes are about far more than walking. They are about rebuilding confidence, creating healthy connections, improving mental wellbeing, and proving to ourselves that recovery is possible one step at a time.

Walking side by side

One of the most powerful things about HIKE2HEAL is seeing people support each other along the trail. Whether it was encouraging someone up a steep section, sharing conversations about recovery, or simply walking side by side in silence, the sense of togetherness was clear throughout the day.

Reaching the top

Reaching the top of Win Hill was a huge achievement for many in the group. Standing together overlooking the Peaks reminded us why these hikes matter so much. Recovery can often feel isolating, but days like this show that nobody has to do it alone.

We are incredibly proud of every single person who came along and pushed themselves outside their comfort zone. Seeing 35 people come together in recovery, supporting one another and enjoying nature, is exactly what HIKE2HEAL RECOVERY is all about.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. We can't wait for the next adventure.

"Take the first step in recovery… then keep walking."
